Students respond to Chris Herren’s presentation

Chris Herren, a former NBA first-round draft pick for the Boston Celtics, spoke about making good choices during a special assembly at Scecina on Jan. 27. Herren pulled no punches in discussing his severe drug addiction problems and multiple near-death experiences. He encouraged students to listen to his story and not make the same mistakes in their own lives. His talk prompted a standing ovation, and his story impacted Scecina’s students. Students encouraged to carpool for Super Bowl parking shuttle service

Scecina’s administration encouraged students to carpool in order to leave more room in the school’s parking lot for people who work downtown. Scecina was able to use its buses to shuttle downtown employees and those headed down to the Super Bowl events in exchange for money. The amount has not been determined, but reporters Ryan Frain and Evan Hvidston created this PSA to encourage students to carpool in order to help out the school.
